On July 25 the Japanese bulk carrier MV Wakashio struck a coral reef off the Indian Ocean island nation Mauritius.
An estimated 1,000 metric tonnes of oil were leaked and the small island nation is preparing for a worst case scenario.
Fridays For Future Mauritius are asking for help and link to a crowd funding page where people can donate money. The money will potentially be used for post-crisis expenses:
Greta Thunberg pointed out that the oil and shipping companies don’t care, so please consider donating some money. They are a small tropical island with very limited resources and could really use our help.
I’m listing some products and the corresponding value in MUR (Mauritian Rupees) so you can see how much you would be donating versus spending it on that other stuff.
For me as an indy coder/artist 200 to 400 MUR sound reasonable.

- Potential research and studies of the marine life affected by the oil spill.
- Fund conservation projects.
- Any legal actions that might be considered as well.
